Don't let her size fool you. The Alocasia Melo Albo is loved for her thick, rounded leaves and extraordinary texture, inspired by the rough skin of a cantaloupe melon. Her crisp white variegation, sometimes with a beautiful silvery glow, makes every leaf completely unique. Native to Sabah in Borneo, she naturally stays wonderfully compact, making this Jewel Alocasia the perfect fit for greenhouse cabinets, shelves and smaller living spaces.

The Melo is part of the Jewel Alocasia family. Unlike most Alocasia, or Elephant Ear, these plants stay relatively small making them ideal for greenhouse cabinets.

Care Guide

Give your Alocasia Melo Albo plenty of bright, indirect light to support strong growth and vibrant colours. Alocasias thrive in slightly moist soil, but don’t like wet feet! Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil starts to feel dry. During spring and summer, feed your Alocasia at half strength with a balanced houseplant fertiliser every two weeks. Your Alocasia loves high humidity, so aim for 60-80% where possible, while maintaining good airflow around the leaves. Only repot when your plant becomes root-bound, moving up to a pot around 3 cm wider in diameter. Always use a light, airy and well-draining soil mix in a pot with drainage holes to keep its roots happy.
