Give your Hoya Compacta Mauna Loa plenty of bright, indirect light to support strong growth and vibrant colours. Hoyas prefer to dry out between waterings and are much more tolerant of dry soil than soggy conditions! Hoyas tolerate a little dryness much better than soggy conditions! Allow the top layer of soil to dry out before watering again. During spring and summer, feed your Hoya at half strength with a balanced houseplant fertiliser every two to four weeks to support healthy growth and flowering. Hoyas adapt well to average household humidity, but will appreciate levels of 50% or higher where possible, with good airflow around the leaves. Allow your Hoya to trail freely or provide a trellis or other support to encourage its natural climbing growth. Only repot when your plant becomes root-bound, moving up to a pot around 3 cm wider in diameter. Always use a light, airy and well-draining soil mix in a pot with drainage holes to keep its roots happy.
